Pair Up With Your Mom Friends To Have Your Own Group Swim Lessons in Your Home Pool in Tampa, FL with Florida Swim Company

Do private swimming lessons seem out of your budget? Many of our clients grab a friend or two that have children in need of swim lessons and share the cost of the lesson. Florida Swim Company offers 1-hour and 90-minute swim lessons that can be shared with 2-5 students. Our instructors may divide the time up between the students to give each student private one-on-one instruction; or we can group up students who are similar in skill level, making a semi-private class. This greatly reduces the price of private swim lessons for each student, while still providing the benefits of private learning atmosphere. This can be extremely beneficial for parents who have multiple children in need of swim lessons – not just in terms of cost, but also convenience. You wouldn’t have to lug your children to multiple swim classes for different levels – we customize the entire lesson for your students’ needs, no matter what skill level they are at.

“Mommy & Me” (or Daddy and me) style group classes are an awesome way to hang out with your friends with your little ones, introducing them to the water together. This is a great idea, especially for infants ranging in ages 6 months until 24 months old. You private swim instructor can conduct the class in one group setting or split up the time among all the parent/child pairs. In this class, parents are allowed in the water with their child to learn how to teach their child different swimming skills, including kicking on the front and back, floating on the front and back, breath control (blow bubbles), grabbing onto the pool wall and monkey walking back to the pool steps. Especially for new parents, swim lessons can be a little overwhelming at first – so sometimes having a friend in the water with you makes the process a little more comfortable for the infant (and the parent!).

We have swim instructors available 7 days a week – in the morning, afternoons and evenings. If you’re looking for weekend classes, we can do that! Only want to do classes after work? That’s fine, too! We strive the make scheduling as easy as possible. All instructors are certified, insured and thoroughly background checked. You will always be provided a full biography on who your swim instructor is and what past experience they have teaching. Check out some of our Tampa Swim Instructors below:

What Parents Don’t Know About Drowning – It Only Takes a Few Seconds

Source: Jenna Middaugh of 11News

A drowning can occur in as little as 20 seconds. According to Dr. Charity Jackson of Colorado Springs, 500 children under the age of 5 drown every year. Most of these drownings occur in home pools after a child wanders off and falls in. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children to begin swimming lessons at the age of 1 and should continue lessons until the child is at a comfortable skill level. But even when a child knows how to swim, doesn’t ever make him or her “drown proof.” The following layers of protection are recommended for young children:

  • A fence around the pool area with self-locking gates that is over 4-feet tall
  • Children need to be supervised while swimming at all times – regardless if they know how to swim or not
  • Any child near the water who cannot swim needs to be within arms length of their parent
  • PUT YOUR CELL PHONE DOWN – Eliminate all distractions when a child is near the water
  • Floaties can deflate or fall off – these are not substitutes or rescue flotation devices
  • When at the beach, swim in lifeguard supervised swimming areas
