Patricia, "Patti"

Patricia, AKA "Patti," was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She started swimming at a very young age and started swimming competitively around 7 years old. Patti has competed in many international swimming meets. including Junior and Senior World Championships, Central American Games (2x bronze and 1x silver medalist), Pan American Games and many championships around the Caribbean and U.S. Competitively. Patti has won medals in the breast, free style, and butterfly strokes. She is the current record holder in Puerto Rico for the 50-meter breast stroke. Her whole life has revolved around the water, not only because she loves to swim, but she finds it as her haven. Patti enjoys teaching kids/adults new things that will make them better and more successful swimmers. She will work on building the swimmer's confidence as well as techniques. Patti also loves teaching adults and children with disabilities. She holds certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED for infants, children, and adults. She is also certified in Safety Training for Swim Coaches. Patti is fluent in English, Spanish, and conversational in Portuguese.

Ahmed - "Mr. A"

Ahmed grew up on the water, surfing and swimming. His father was a lifeguard, which led Ahmed to train and compete as a junior lifeguard starting at age 11. Ahmed's background is in medicine and working with children - certified as an EMT. He also works at a local preschool in Wellington as a swim instructor, as well as lifeguards at a local waterpark. Ahmed has experience teaching all ages, behaviors and skill levels - including special needs. He works with "For the Love of Surfing," a program that uses surfing as a therapy program for those with special needs. He is certified through The American Red Cross in Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instruction (Swim Instructor) and is a Certified EMT. In his spare time, Ahmed is very active within the West Palm Beach community as a mentor with Common Genter and conducting missionary work with Christ Fellowship of North Palm Beach, Florida.


Sandy is a proud, South Florida native who is a mother of four with a coaching history that dates back to 2008. Since then, she has coached ages ranging from 5 to 75 and has experience in swim, racing/competing as well as open water swim (ocean, lake, river). She has personally completed over 12 marathons, 20 triathlons and 4 IRONMAN races. She was instructed by the United States of America Swim Association and USAT (Triathlon). As a physician she holds a current CPR certificate as is required for her license, as well as AED and BLS .


Christopher was born and raised in Florida, and has worked in the aquatic field since 2016. Christopher’s passion for the water started in high school where he swam competitively throughout his junior and senior year, and continued on with his first swim instructor job at a local swim school. He is experienced with all ages and abilities. He is certified as a WSI and lifeguard along with CPR and AED certification through the American Red Cross.


Christian has been lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons since 2015. Although born and raised in NY, he has always wanted to move to Florida and decided to get certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard. Christian enjoys working with children up to 15 as this is the range where most of his experience, in and out of the water, has been; however, he will teach any and all ages. He has worked as a teaching assistant at a school for children with autism and currently is pursuing ABA therapy as a registered behavior technician. Christian is also a certified therapeutic horsemanship riding instructor for people with disabilities. Outside of working, Christian enjoys hanging out with his dogs, riding horses, going to the beach, and exploring new places. In NY, he was a volunteer firefighter and is certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED. Christian looks forward to helping progress you or your child’s swimming skills and abilities.


Madelena (Maddy) has been in the water for as long as she can remember. She began swimming at very young age and it has turned into a lifelong passion for her. She started competitive swimming in the 5th grade and continued until she was a senior in high school. She has been working as a certified lifeguard for the last 4 years and has also been a swim instructor for the last 4 years. Swimming has become a lifelong passion for Madelena and finds pure joy in providing that passion to others. Madelena is currently certified in lifeguarding, CPR, AED, and first aid.


Javier has always had a passion for water and especially people. He was a competitive varsity swimmer for 4 years back in his day while volunteering at the local aquatics center to assist instructing. Swimming since 3, this aquatics veteran is here to teach his secrets of the water. His competence in the water along with his empathetic communication makes learning cool & easy & most importantly fun & safe! Certified Adult first aid/CPR/AED, you’re in good hands!


Victoria, AKA “Polo”, was born and raised in South Florida. Of Dominican descent, Victoria has loved being in the water for as long as she can remember. Victoria was a competitive swimmer for 5 years; pool lifeguard for 3 years and is now a certified swim instructor through the American Red Cross. Victoria also obtained her Lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid through this organization. She is experienced with swimmers of all ages and abilities. Victoria’s patient and encouraging approach to teaching has helped many of her students achieve their goals. She has worked with many participants ranging from toddlers to children, to mommy and me classes. Her passion is nonetheless to teach. Seeing her students progress and develop new skills they didn’t have before, truly makes it all worth it. She has also worked as a camp counselor to 20 nine year olds, which is challenging but has also strengthened her to work with big groups and different characteristics. Victoria is fluent in English and Spanish.


Bibiana was born in Hungary and moved to the US in 2013. She has been swimming since age 3 and started competing at 8 years old having had much success over the years in competition. She has been a caregiver for some time and really enjoys working with the elderly. She enjoys a lot of hobbies, but mostly loves going to the gym and helping friends and clients achieve their fitness goals. Bibiana is a certified Water Safety Instructor and Swim Coach and is also certified in CPR/AED/BLS and First Aid.

Emmanuel "Manny"

Greetings, my name is Manny. I am a South Florida native. I attended college for Sciences/Chemistry but am currently studying finance. I competed in D-1 Track & Field/Cross Country but found a passion in Aquatics along my journey. I have been involved in swimming and running all my life. I’ve been coaching for about 5 years. I am thankful to have experience / certifications in a few aspects of aquatics (Water Safety Instructor, Aquatic Facility Operator, Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED, Water Aerobics) for about 6 years now and truly love it. I have taught hundreds to swim over these past few years, but it is only right to strive for the thousands. Hard work, dedication, and integrity are few of my key traits. “Always giving your all and persevering is vital for anything we may do in life”. Can’t wait to leave a positive impact on each individual that I am privileged to encounter. Thank you.


Sophia has always loved the water since she was a little girl. She started strokes lessons at 7 years old and quickly progressed to join swim team when she was 9. By the age of 16, Sophia had won many county and state championships throughout her swimming career. However, she wanted to pass on her knowledge of swimming by becoming a swim instructor. She became CPR, Lifeguard, and AED & First Aid certified by the Red Cross in 2020. Ever since, Sophia has taught lessons at her local beach, YMCA, and privately at home. She has taught ages 3-15, from beginner to advanced. She is currently studying at the University of Miami, where she will be pursuing Computer Science!


Ryenne was born and raised in Minnesota where she swam competitively from 8th grade through senior year. After becoming state champion in MN, she signed to swim D1 at Florida International University where she helped FIU win their 5th consecutive C-USA conference champion title. She is now pursuing her career goals in marine biology and is aiding in research with FIU and the Florida Manta Project. In her free time, Ryenne likes to paint, snorkel, and garden. She is AED and first aid certified.


Hope grew up in Pennsylvania counting the days down to summer where she could swim everyday outside. She started teaching swimming lessons and lifeguarding while she was in high school. In college she completed her Water Safety Instruction. After she graduated she returned to her alma mater to teach science and serve as Head Varsity Coach for the Boys and Girls High School Swim teams for two years. Since then, she spent 12 years in sales and marketing in the corporate world and 8 years teaching science in public school. Now that she's in S. FL, teaching swimming outdoors almost year round is what she enjoys in addition to playing tennis, biking, and walking her dogs.


Alison is from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she was a competitive swimmer for 12 years. She became a lifeguard for the City of Cincinnati at the age of 17, and lifeguarded for 2 years before she became a manager for another 4 years. On top of becoming a certified lifeguard with CPR, AED, and first aid certification, Alison also became a certified Water Safety Instructor. She is a recent graduate from West Virginia University, where she was a double major in Spanish and Human Nutrition and Foods. She is currently working to get her masters in Dietetics, where she hopes to become a registered dietitian (RDN) in the near future.


Jill is a former elementary school teacher who grew up in the water. She is a Long Island native, where she grew up surfing and swimming. She swam competitively in high school, and gave private swim lessons on top of lifeguarding and instructing at her local surf camp throughout her college years when she studied Spanish. Jill is well versed in water safety, fundamental swimming skills, and advanced strokes for those looking to improve their advanced skills. She is currently CPR and First Aid certified.


“Will” is originally from Bangor, Maine. He grew up in the Air Force, and moved from Seattle to Palm Beach County in 2003 with his oldest daughter and wife. William is a Widower and father of two daughters. He began Lifeguarding and Swim Instruction in Alexandria, Louisiana later in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and swam competitively. He utilized his training working in the Maritime Industry as a Steward/Deckhand on boats in the Northwest, Canada, and Alaska. He raised his two daughters in pools and on the North End of Delray Beach surfing and kayaking. Will is currently certified in CPR, AED, First Aid and Lifeguarding.


Maria was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She has been a competitive swimmer since the age of 4 and was given the opportunity to compete at a national level. With a great passion for the sport, she has been teaching swim lessons since 2014 and has experience in both group and private settings. Maria loves teaching children of all ages, youths and adults. The most important thing for Maria in her swimming lessons is to help each individual achieve their goals in an easy and fun way, always focusing on improving skills and abilities to ensure safe and independent swimming. Maria is certified by the American Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Manager.


Jose is an enthusiastic and dedicated swim coach that has been swimming all his life. He started teaching swimming lessons in Venezuela in 2015 and has been teaching ever since. He enjoys teaching students ranging from beginners through advanced, including mommy and me to those needing help with stroke perfection. Jose received degrees in Chemistry in France and Venezuela and is fluent in 3 languages including French, Spanish and English. Jose’s goal in teaching is to help everyone overcome anxieties and become comfortable and confident in and around the water. Jose is certified in Adult, Child and Infant CPR and AED.


As a licensed swim instructor and lifeguard since 2016 Jeff has taught people of all ages how to swim. From toddlers to 50 year olds! He is currently Majoring in Biology at University and is a PreMed student. Before moving to Parkland Jeff was an EMT instructor and a tutor, in classrooms and one on one. Jeff himself is a drowning victim and uses that experience to teach pool safety from a personal view.


Bruce is extremely excited to join the Florida Swim Team. He works with all ages, from Infants to Infinity, to pass on a lifetime passion for swimming and surfing. As a Certified lifeguard for years, teaching in a safe environment is extremely important as it helps calm fears of the water. Bruce’s goal is to help people ease their apprehension so they can open a whole new world of exercise and fun with their families, while also building coordination and self-confidence. Bruce is certified in CPR, AED, First Aid and Lifeguarding.


Grace was born and raised on the coast of southern Maine where she lived until moving to Florida with her best friend. She is currently going to school to be a history teacher. Grace’s mom taught swimming lessons for over 30 years, being around water so often allowed her to be comfortable at a young age and she spent the majority of her days at the beach. She started lifeguarding for Ocean Rescue 5 years ago but has been teaching swim lessons for the past 7. The water has been a big part of Grace’s life which is why she’s developed such a love for it but also knows the risks and dangers which is why she enjoy teaching lessons. Grace is CPR certified as well as Lifeguard and WSI certified.


Jermaine is from Fort Lauderdale and is 21 Years old. He has been swimming since he was 7 years old. Since then, the water has been a safe haven for him to explore. He practiced and worked on his technique until he was 16, and then he began lifeguarding. Lifeguarding then led him to be a swim instructor because he felt every child should learn how to swim. Jermaine is certified in Lifeguarding, CPR, AED and First Aid, works with all ages and is very kind and compassionate with each of his students


Since Melissa was 5 years old, she knew she was destined to be a swimmer. Melissa is originally from New York but just recently moved down to Florida over the summer. She’s currently a junior attending The University or South Florida in Tampa and is majoring in early childhood education! Melissa has been a certified Water Safety Instructor for the past 5 years and also has her CPR/ AED certification. From 2018-2022 she worked at the JCC of Mid-Westchester as a swim instructor doing private lessons and group lessons with kids of all ages and swimming abilities. Melissa is very enthusiastic and loves working with young children, especially in the pool where she can have fun with them, while also teaching them how to swim safely. The best part of about being an instructor that Melissa loves is when she sees the progress and confidence in her clients swimming abilities. Other than swimming, Melissa enjoys being outdoors, live music, road trips and likes to do arts and crafts on her free time


Christian is a student at FAU, which he partially chose for its proximity to the ocean and his desire to learn to surf. He loves the water and catching a wave. Christian was on his high school swim team for four years and was Swim Captain for both his junior and senior years. His experience with children includes being a camp counselor and a middle school church group leader. He holds an American Red Cross Lifeguard certification along with First Aid, CPR and AED certifications. He has worked as a lifeguard for 3 years.


This is Scherzade Burden, (Shaz for short) who is an Aqua Zumba Instructor! Shaz has been instructing since March 2020 but first took up Zumba when she was a student at University College London in 2007! Her students are usually surprised to find out she was previously a lawyer! She made this huge career change in 2020 after her fourth pregnancy which was a twin pregnancy, in part to help her get back in a good physical and mental place, but also because she wanted to do something she was truly passionate about; she wanted to make a positive impact on her community, for her family and make a real difference in the world. Working in the fitness industry allows her to bring JOY to her students every time they meet. They work hard in class but always with a smile on their face! With Aqua Zumba you'll forget you're exercising because you'll be having so much FUN! Shaz can't wait to bring the Zumba Party to you and share in your happiness whilst you meet your own, personal fitness goals!


Sara is a certified elementary and special education teacher from New York! She recently moved to Florida for Graduate school to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. Sara has been an energetic and enthusiastic certified swim instructor for 4 years now and certified lifeguard for the last 8 years, and loves every second of it. She has educated over 200+ students, in ages ranging from 6 months to 72 years old! Throughout that time, she’s worked with a wide range of Special Needs and ELL students— from teaching valuable life-saving skills to perfecting swim stroke techniques. Sara’s favorite part of teaching is creating silly, engaging, and fun games in the water that help foster that “aha” moment when learning something new! Swimming is such an important skill and she looks forward to working with you!


Ivan is very excited to be a part of the Florida Swim Team! He was born and raised in beautiful, sunny, Miami, Florida. From a very early age he grew to love the water. He was on the swim team all throughout middle school and freshman year of high school, and his first job ever was as a lifeguard. Ivan has continued to work on and off as a lifeguard for over 4 years and started giving swim lessons in this time. Ever since then, he has grown to love everything about lifeguarding and instructing. Ivan very much loves being seen as a "big brother" and wants to be a positive influence and mentor to the youth in his community. Ivan is currently Red Cross certified in CPR/AED/First Aid, and Lifeguarding.


Daphne has been around the water all her life! Born in Colorado and growing up in California, she started swimming competitively and then found water polo. She played both for many years while working as an ocean lifeguard and performing helo rescues for state parks until moving across the world to pursue diving in Portugal. She recently moved back to the US and landed in Florida to take up teaching again as the water is such a big part of her life. Daphne loves working with people and sharing her passion for swimming. She is currently certified in CPR, AED, and is also a certified PADI diver.


My name is Hadassah Morales. I’m 26 years old. I have been swimming since the age of 3 and competitive at the age of 6. I went on to swim in college for 4 years and was named team captain of the women’s team for all 4 years consecutively. I have a passion for teaching swim lessons. It brings me joy to know that I have the ability to teach individuals life saving abillities and give parents the ease of mind. I have been a swim instructor for 10 years as well as a lifeguard for 6 years. I am currently Certified in AED/CPR and First Aid.


Jonathan grew up in the City of New York and is now a Florida local offering his experience. Jonathan has been swimming since 10th grade; when he decided to take a chance in learning the art himself. The desire to learn was always driven by a big insecurity of not being able to enjoy the outdoor waters. Since then Jonathan has swam for his high school team and lifeguarded in many amazing and well recognizable places. He has had the opportunity to teach many highly motivated people to master the art for themselves given his background as a fitness trainer. Jonathan has always been an individual who prioritizes character, more specifically respect, discipline and integrity as well as catering an attention to detail in all of his work. He always makes the effort to lead with those attributes intact. Jonathan is certified in CPR, First-Aid, AED and Lifeguarding.


This is Nikita Verba. He is 18 years old. He’s been swimming and competing since the age of 8 at the top level. Through his team he was to get his first job as a lifeguard which later transitioned into him teaching and instructing people of all ages and skill levels. He’s been teaching and lifeguarding for 2 years now and enjoys sharing his knowledge of the pool with those around. Although he stopped competing he still loves what he does and wants to be able to help others learn and progress the same way he once did. Nikita is currently Lifeguard Certified with CPR/AED.
