Tips for Baby Swim Lessons in St. Petersburg
-
-
- POOL TEMPERATURE The pool is required to be above 82 degrees, but we recommend over 85 degrees for children under 1 years of age.
- SWIM WEAR Swim shirts or rash guards are suggested for infants during swimming lessons. The added layer helps keep them warm.
- POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT We ask that parents keep a positive attitude in the water with us. Your mood is very important during a swim lesson – when you are able to stay calm and encouraging, this energy directly transmits to your child. We ask that anytime your child has even the smallest victory, praise them!
- HAVE FUN Keep pool time fun! During family pool time, practice skills and cues in-between fun pool activities. Children are more willing the participate when in a good mood.
- BE PATIENT Learning to swim is no different than learning to walk – sometimes children do regress. This is completely normal! We ask parents to have parents with their child’s progress.

Tiara

Tiara has always had a passion for people and water activities. Swimming did not come natural to her, although she learned water safety and basic swimming skills at a young age. It was not until she joined her high school swim team that she became masterful in the water. After high school, she stayed active in college by participating in water aerobics and later leading classes at the YMCA. This experience led her to ensure that she builds meaningful relationships with her clients to enhance their learning experience by teaching it in a way the client can comprehend. Tiara has her B.S. in Family Science. She has been teaching swim lessons for 7 years and life guarding for 8. Tiara is YMCA certified in Lifeguarding/ Swim Lesson Instructor /AED/CPR/First Aid/Emergency Oxygen.
