Florida Swim Company Brings Infant Swim Classes to Your Home Pool in South Tampa, Florida

Looking for an alternative to aggressive survival swim lessons for infants? Florida Swim Company offers patient and nurturing swim instructors that service South Tampa families in the comfort of their home pools. Instructors will use a variety of tactics to encourage swimming and floating with their baby swimmers; including games, toys, songs and fun activities. Every swimmer has a different personality and learning style, so we adjust our teaching to match those qualities. Some children need more structure, while others need more comforting. Lessons start at 6 months of age and focus on water safety skills that can safe the child’s life. With drowning being the leading cause of accidental death in this age group, swim lessons are imperative for all South Tampa infants. We will work on teaching the child to swim on the front and back, floating on the front and back, changing direction, flipping over, breath control (blowing bubbles), swimming back to grab the pool wall and walking their hands on the pool wall to safety (monkey walking).

Lessons are conveniently scheduled around the availability that you provide us. So if you need to dodge nap times and schedule lessons after work, that’s totally fine with us! We suggest scheduling lessons at least 2-3 times per week. Because swimming involves memorization and repetition, we find that the more often lessons are scheduled, the better (and quicker) results we see. We have swim instructors available in South Tampa 7 days a week; in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Want to be involved in your baby’s swim lessons? With children under the age of 18 months, we allow parents to join in the pool with the instructor. This is the better option for young swimmers who are shy or have separation anxiety. Rather watch from the sidelines? No problem – parents are not required to be in the pool during lessons/

Have friends with babies? Feel free to invite them to join your lessons. Our classes can have up to 4 children in our 1 hour lesson packages. We can either do a 1-hour lesson with parent/child pairs in the water with the instructor or the instructor can take turns with each child for one-on-one instruction.

Tips for Baby Swim Lessons in West Palm Beach

            • SWIM WEAR Swim shirts or rash guards are suggested for infants during swimming lessons. The added layer helps keep them warm. Swim diapers are a must for swimming babies. Regular diapers will absorb the pool water and weigh down the child.
            • POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT We ask that parents keep a positive attitude in the water with us. Your mood is very important during a swim lesson – when you are able to stay calm and encouraging, this energy directly transmits to your child. We ask that anytime your child has even the smallest victory, praise them!
            • HAVE FUN Keep pool time fun! During family pool time, practice skills and cues in-between fun pool activities. Children are more willing the participate when in a good mood.
            • BE PATIENT Learning to swim is no different than learning to walk – sometimes children do regress. This is completely normal! We ask parents to have parents with their child’s progress.
            • POOL TEMPERATURE The pool is required to be above 82 degrees, but we recommend over 85 degrees for children under 1 years of age.
